Economista Yoav Galant: General Jefe del Comando Sur

Un experto general bregado en las encrucijadas de las guerras del Líbano (1982 y 2006) es quien comanda la operación «Plomo sólido» cuya fase terrestre se denomina ahora «Arrancar de raíz».
Nacido en la ciudad de Jaffa hace 50 años, Yoav Galant comenzó su carrera militar en 1977, tras graduarse en Gestión en Economía y Finanzas por la Universidad de Haifa.

En las Fuerzas de Defensa de Israel comenzó mar adentro, enrolado en la denominada Flotilla 13 desde soldado raso a comandante: durante 17 años.
Ya en la década de los noventa entró en el Ejército de Tierra. Entre 1997 y 1999 sirvió como jefe de la División de Gaza.
De 2002 a 2005, como secretario militar del primer ministro Ariel Sharón para pasar luego a su cargo actual.

Major General Yoav Galant was born on November 1958 in Jaffa
The following is a list of positions Major General Yoav Galant filled during his service in the IDF:
1977: Drafted to Flotilla 13- the Navy commando, served as a combat soldier, officer and commander. Participated and commanded many IDF operations throughout his service.
1986: Appointed commander of a company of combat soldiers in the Flotilla 13 unit. Was later appointed lieutenant colonel.
1993-1994: Commanded the Jenin Brigade of the Judea and Samaria division.
1994-1997: Commander of Flotilla 13 (Navy commando).
1997-1999: Commander of the Gaza Division.
1999-2001: Changed careers to serve as commander of the armored corps. Served as commander of the armored corps division in reserves of the central command.
2001-2002: Head of the Ground Forces Staff.
2002: He was appointed to the position of Military Secretary of the Prime Minister, and was promoted to the rank of Major General.
2005: He was appointed to the position of GOC Southern Command.


Major General Yoav Galant holds of a B.A. Degree and graduated with honors in Business and Finance Management from the University of Haifa.
Major General Yoav Galant is married and a father of three.

Admiral Eliezer Marom, Commander of the Israel Navy
Vice Admiral Eliezer Marom was born at the Sde-Eliezer village in the Upper Galilee, Israel, in 1955. He graduated from the Naval Officers course in 1975. His first sea duty assignment was as an Engine Officer.
During his military service, Vice Admiral Eliezer Marom held various command and staff positions including but not limited to: Detection, Navigation and Communications Officer, Commander of a Missile Boat, Commander F.M.B. (First Missile Boat) Squadron, Commander of the Advanced Naval Command Course, Head of Operational Intelligence Department, and Commander of the F.M.B. Flotilla.
In 1999 he was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and appointed Commander of the Haifa Naval Base and the North Arena.
In 2001, he was appointed the Head of Naval Operations of the Israel Navy.
In 2003, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Israel Navy.
Between 2004 and 2005, he was the representative of the IDF at the United States Joint Forces Command.
On August 2005, he was appointed as the Defense $ Armed Forces Attachי at the Embassy of Israel in Singapore.
On October 9, 2007, Vice Admiral Eliezer Marom was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed as the Commander in Chief of the Israel Navy.


He is a graduate of

Major General Amos Yedlin, Director of Military Intelligence
Major General Amos Yedlin was born in Kibbutz Hatzerim in 1951 and enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces in November 1970.
Yedlin began his army service by volunteering for Pilots Course, successfully completing the 68th course as a combat pilot. Soon afterwards, Yedlin took part in the Yom Kippur War as a fighter pilot.
1973, Yedlin passed a flight instructor course. Immediately afterwards, he returned to the "Flying Tiger" squadron.
1976, Yedlin was reassigned to the "Golden Vulture" squadron ("Vulture" aircraft) and subsequently transferred to "Negev Squadron."
1978, Yedlin was named the commander of the instructor branch of "The First Battle Squadron" ("Kfirim") at Hatzor Base.
1979, Yedlin was appointed commander of the interception branch of "Haemek Squadron" at Ramat-David Base.
1980, Yedlin was a member of the second delegation of pilots enrolled in a conversion course for the "Hawk" (F-16) aircraft in the United States.
1980, Yedlin was named deputy commander of Squadron B in "The First Jet Squadron" at Ramat-David Base.
1981, Yedlin was appointed deputy commander of Squadron A in "The Negev Squadron" ("Hawk") at Ramon Base.
1985, Yedlin took over as commander of squadron "The Flying Wing" (Eagle) in Ramat-David Base.
1987, Yedlin joined the conversion course for the Falcon airplanes (F-15).
1987, Yedlin assumed the position of commander of the squadron "Knights of the Double Tale" at Tel-Nof Base.
1988, Yedlin was transferred to the Air Force General Staff where he assumed the role of Head of Combat Training.
1989, Yedlin served as head of planning in the Command and Organization Department.
In April 1990, Yedlin was promoted to the rank of colonel and named head of the Command and Organization Department.
1994, Yedlin was appointed commander of Nabatim Base and the head of the Air Force Deployment Administration in the south.
1995, Yedlin was promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General and named commander of Hatzerim Base.
1998, Yedlin was appointed head of Intelligence Squadron, where he served for two years.
2000, Yedlin was named chief of Air Force General Staff.
2002, Yedlin was promoted to the rank of General and named commander of Air Force colleges.
2004, Yedlin was dispatched to Washington to serve as the IDF Military attache.
January 2006, Yedlin was named Head of Military Intelligence.
Major General Yedlin participated in many operations, among them the attack on the nuclear reactor in Baghdad, and his command and operational experience is much greater.

Major General Yedlin completed

- a Masters degree in Public Administration from Harvard University in the United States.
Major General Yedlin is married to Karen, and is a father to two girls and a boy.

Major General Ido Nechushtan, Commander of the Israel Air Force
Major General Nechushtan was born in 1957 in Jerusalem, where he was raised and educated.
1975: Enlisted in the IAF.
1977: Graduated from the combat pilot course with honors.
His career as a fighter pilot began with operational training at the Etzion airbase in Sinai, and continued as he piloted Skyhawk, Phantom, and F-16 fighters, as a flight school instructor, and as a member of the Air Force's aerobatics team.
Throughout his career Major General Nachushtan has filled a series of command and headquarters positions:
Command of an F-16 "Netz" squadron at Ramon airbase, including readiness during the first Gulf War and the establishment of a new program for advanced operational training.
Establishment and command of "Barak 2" F-16 squadron at Hatzor airbase, including selection of new aircraft and development of unique nighttime capabilities and precise guided weapons.
Head of munitions branch within weaponry section of Air Force staff.
Head of Air Force staff's planning and organization section.
Commander of Air Force's Hatzor airbase.
Head of Intelligence Group.
Head of Air Force Operations.
Air Force Chief of Staff.

Major General Nachushtan also holds
- a Degree with honors in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem,
- an M.B.A. in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Chicago and
- Tel Aviv University's Recanati School of Business Administration.
- He is also a graduate of Harvard University's Advanced Management Program

Major General Tal Russo, Head of Operations Directorate
Born in Israel in 1959 in Kibbutz Holta in the north. Drafted into the IDF in 1978 to an elite unit and released in 1981 as a unit commander.
1982- Returned to the IDF during the Galilee War and served in a Special Forces unit as a company commander. At the completion of missions conducted as part of the company commander, Russo received officer's ranks.
1983- Reserve company commander in an elite unit.
1985- Deputy commander of a Special Forces unit.
1986- Deputy commander of an elite unit.
1987- Released from the IDF.
1989- Returned to the IDF as project manager in an elite unit.
1991- Givati Brigade "Rotem" Battalion commander.
1992- Commander of a special Paratroopers Brigade force.
1994- Commander of a special reserve force.
1997- The collage of national security.
1998- Nahal Brigade Commander.
2001- Division Commander.
2003- "Steel Division" Commander.
2006- The Chief of Staff's project manager on the issue of the connection and relationship between military and the national religious public.
2006 (during the war in Lebanon and after it)- Assistant of the Head of the Operations Directorate in special missions.
